Shunt Capacitor Without External Fuse - Reliable Equipment from China Suppliers and Factory
Purposes
This equipment is used in the three-phase AC system above 1kV with the frequency of 50Hz, so as to increase the power factor of system, reduce the network losses and improve the voltage quality of system.
Service Conditions
This equipment is indoor (outdoor) type. The service environment conditions are as follows:
- The altitude of the installation and operation area shall not exceed 1,000m. For exceeding 1000m, insulation correction is made as per related requirements.
- Ambient temperature of the installation and operation area: - 5℃ ~ + 50℃
- The place of installation and operation shall be free from electrical conductivity, explosive dust and particles, violent mechanical vibration and harmful gas and steam.
Personal Safety
Since the capacitor is a kind of power storage equipment, its stored electric charge cannot be released in a short time, and the electric charge in the capacitor is easy to transfer.
Notes
Grounding, short-circuiting and discharging of capacitors shall be carried out before the human body touches the live parts of capacitors, even if the capacitors are out of power for a long enough time.
It is forbidden to contact two outgoing terminals of the capacitor with hands simultaneously at any time to avoid the impact by residual electric charge, causing unnecessary personal injuries. The capacitor out of operation shall be short-circuit grounded for a long time. Thus, it is able to avoid the impact by residual electric charge during disassembly and connection.
The insulating oil in the capacitor unit is an irritant liquid to the cornea, so it should be avoided from entering the eyes. Wash eyes with clean water in a timely manner after it enters. The oil will not cause harm to other parts of body by contact, but it cannot be eaten.
Structure
-
Composition of capacitor equipment
The capacitor equipment includes shunt capacitor, disconnector (or earthing switch), ZnO arrester, discharge coil, current transformer (allocated during current protection), confluence busbar, connecting soft copper wires (copper strand), post insulators, modular steel framework laying aside capacitors, etc.
-
Function for main accessories
- Disconnector (or earthing switch): Used for isolation and grounding protection during the equipment power-off overhauling. Its technical index shall conform to the requirements of relevant standards and technical agreement.
- Discharge coil: Used for capacitor bank discharge as well as measurement meter and signal source of relay protection. Its technical index shall conform to the requirements of relevant standards and technical agreement.
- Zinc oxide arrester: Used for switching over-voltage protection or lightning over-voltage protection of the equipment (close to arrangement of capacitor bank as possible). Its technical index shall conform to the requirements of relevant standards and technical agreement.
- Current transformer for current protection: Used for providing signal exit for relay protection. Its technical index shall conform to the requirements of relevant standards and technical agreement.
- Series reactor: The ratio of the inductive reactance of the series reactor to the capacitive reactance of the equipment (reactance rate) is as follows: 0.5% - 1%, and 5% - 6% (or 12% - 13%). The maximum long-term operating current is 1.35 times the rated current of the equipment, and the reactance value shall not be less than 90% of the rated reactance value at this time. The series reactor will reduce the closing inrush current when the device is put into operation, prevent the instantaneous decrease of bus voltage, and restrain the influence of 5th (3rd) and above harmonic waves in the system on the equipment. Its technical index shall conform to the requirements of relevant standards and technical agreement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the primary purposes of this capacitor equipment?
This equipment is designed for use in three-phase AC systems above 1kV with a frequency of 50Hz. It functions to increase the system's power factor, reduce network losses, and improve overall system voltage quality.
What are the installation limits for altitude and ambient temperature?
The installation altitude must not exceed 1,000m (unless insulation correction is applied). The ambient operating temperature must remain within the range of -5℃ to +50℃. Additionally, the site must be free from conductive or explosive dust, vibration, and harmful gases.
What safety measures must be taken before touching the capacitor?
You must ground, short-circuit, and discharge the capacitors before touching any live parts, even if the power has been off for a long time. Never touch two outgoing terminals at the same time. Capacitors out of operation should remain short-circuit grounded long-term.
What should I do if the insulating oil contacts my eyes or skin?
The insulating oil is a corneal eye irritant. If it gets into your eyes, wash them immediately with clean water. While contact with other parts of the body is not harmful, the oil is strictly non-edible and must not be consumed.
What is the role of the series reactor in this system?
The series reactor reduces closing inrush currents during startup, prevents sudden bus voltage drops, and suppresses the impact of the 5th (3rd) and higher harmonics on the equipment. Its reactance rate is typically 0.5% - 1% or 5% - 6% (or 12% - 13%).
